Staff Appreciation Week

Staff Appreciation Week is almost here! We have the BEST staff and they have worked extra hard this year to teach and support our kids! This week is a chance to show our teachers, staff, and administrations some GATOR LOVE! Be on the lookout for an email from your room parent with class-specific details.

Here’s an overview of the school-wide events:

April 28-30: Families are invited to drop off individually packaged snacks for staff to the gray bin in front of the school marked “PTA – Staff Snacks”. These will be used to fill new snack carts that the PTA is providing for the staff break room! The carts will be placed in the break rooms on Monday, May 3rd to kickoff the week!

May 2: We need your help to show our staff some love by decorating the outside of the school! PTA members will be present from 12-1 pm with supplies and we could use YOUR help chalking the sidewalks with pictures and messages of encouragement. Students are also welcome to bring their own homemade signs to hang up outside the building. Families can also bring their own chalk or signs and add to the decorations anytime during the rest of the afternoon.

In addition to the events above, the email from your room parent has class-specific ways to participate in Staff Appreciation Week. Make sure to check there for ideas on how to thank your teacher and other staff member(s)! In addition, the PTA has some fun surprises planned for staff throughout the week. Be on the lookout for pictures and details in the May newsletter!

Andia’s Ice Cream Spirit Event

Our Andia’s Ice Cream Spirit Event was a huge success – we hope everyone is enjoying the more than 144 quarts of ice cream! An extra big thank you to everyone who chose to “buy a scoop for a staff member”, which will be delivered to the school at the next staff appreciation event at the end of March!

Alston Ridge Elementary School PTA (aka Parents and Teachers Association) is currently seeking motivated and committed parents/guardians to serve in one of the 2021-22 PTA Officer Positions. These positions are 1-year commitments except for the Treasurer position, which is a 2-year commitment. These roles will start in July 2021 with a transition period starting in late-May 2021.

The nomination period is now open through March 15th. An election will be held within the month of May. Please note that you can nominate yourself for any Board of Directors role.  If you are interested in this opportunity to serve, please email the Nomination Committee at info@AlstonRidgePTA.com. Schanel Mize, the Nomination Committee chair, will be in touch to learn more about you, to share information about the board, and to answer any questions you might have about the board, individual positions, or the nomination process.

Our leadership is important to the continued strengthening of our school family and community.  We appreciate, in advance, your consideration to be part of this extraordinary team!

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Welcome Packet for New Gator Families

The PTA put together a Welcome Packet for new Alston Ridge families. It was created with the following question in mind: “What do I wish someone had explained to me when my child first started school at Alston Ridge?” Given that this is an unusual year, there are many things that may not apply and/or work differently. Based on initial conversations with the school in August, we made some notes in the Welcome Packet in green to indicate things that may be different this year. We hope you find this resource helpful!
