Principal Input!

Wake County Schools held an info session in the Alston Ridge media center on Thursday, Dec 20th. For those who were unable to attend, please submit your thoughts in the form here: http://bit.ly/2SZfe8e This is managed by the Northwest Area Superintendent, Mr. Seydric Williams, who is leading the interviews for our new principal. Please provide input so he can identify the best principal to lead Alston Ridge! They hope to have a new principal identified and in place by March 1st.

Science Expo

Science Expo is approaching. Get ready for some learning and fun Jan 22 2019 (Track 1 & Track 3) and Jan 29 (Track 2 and Track 4). Registration confirmations have been sent, if you did not receive a registration confirmation, please contact laurahudak@yahoo.com and/or cstarrett@wcpss.net so that we can make sure you are registered!  Also remember that everyone is welcome to come to the Expo, see the students presentations, and participate in the fun science activities that will be available!  Set up is from 6:00 pm – 6:30 pm and the Expo is open from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Staff Appreciation


Thu Jan 24, Breakfast,  8:30 am – 9:30 am

Teachers and staff from all tracks will attend. Please sign up to help set up, serve breakfast or to provide muffins, breakfast pastries, coffee, or juice.

When and where do I drop-off items for the Staff Appreciation Breakfast? 

On Wed Jan 23, a table will be set up near the office to drop off items for the staff breakfast. For items requiring refrigeration, please drop these off on Thu Jan 24 between 7:00 am – 8:30 am. If you have any questions, please email Schanel @sdmmize@gmail.com

Prefer to make a monetary donation for Staff Appreciation events? 

You can do this via check in the PTA Mailbox or here. Please ensure to indicate on the check or in the comment field online that the donation is for Staff Appreciation events. Please note if we have any funds remaining at the end of the year, they will be used for general PTA needs.

Do you work in one of the following types of jobs?

  • Postal Worker
  • Medical (Nutritionist, Pharmacist, Nurse, PA, Doctor, Veterinarian etc)
  • Actuary or Accountant
  • Business Consultant
  • Law Enforcement, Military or Corrections Officers
  • Coach, Trainer
  • Mechanic, Trades person, Technician
  • Chef, Restaurant Manager or Owner
  • Scientist or Researcher
  • Computer Science, Programmer, Technology
  • Lawyer, Judge

If you have one of these jobs or anything related, would you consider being a guest speaker at Career Day for our 4th and 5th graders? You would give two 20-30 minute presentations, discussing topics such as what led you to your career, what activities you typically perform, what characteristics make someone a good/bad fit for your career, etc. If you are willing and available, please email Erica Watson at academicprograms.arpta@gmail.com and she will follow-up with more detailed information.
